Christina Geiger

Christina Geiger (born 6 February 1990 in Oberstdorf) is a German alpine skier. It belongs to the B-team of the German Ski Association and specializes in the technical disciplines, slalom and giant slalom.

Biography

Geiger played her first FIS races in December 2005 and was able to place first four months later in the top ten. In the European Cup they drove their first two races in February 2007 and went from the 2007/ 08 season on a regular basis at the start. In 2008, she competed at the Junior World Championships in Spain Formigal and reached there as the best result Rank 7 in the slalom. The first podium in the European Cup reached the German in the first slalom of the season 2008/ 09 on 23 November in Funäsdalen and celebrated a few weeks later in Schruns their first victory.

After these successes Geiger was allowed to start on 29 December 2008 in the Slalom in Semmering first time in the World Cup, but did not qualify for the second round. But only a week later she reached in her second World Cup race, the slalom in Zagreb, already the 15th Place. In the following season 2009/10 she went in the slalom in Aspen in eighth place, which meant to her best World Cup result so far. This result could repeat the slalom in Lienz on December 29, 2009. At the Junior World Championships in 2010, she won the gold medal in slalom in Chamonix. You could qualify by the results in the Ski World Cup for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and enforce in an internal secretion in Canada along with Fanny Chmelar for use in the Olympic slalom on February 27, 2010 from Catherine Dürr, who acted only as Ersatzskifahrerin. In this competition, she placed 14th place.

On 29 December 2010 drove a violinist in the slalom in Semmering to third place and achieved their first podium in a World Cup race. At the World Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, she was disqualified in the first slalom passage to a gate faults. As in the 2010/11 season went violinist in the winter 2011/12 in two World Cup slaloms in the top ten, where she missed another podium finish in fourth place in Lienz just barely.
