Christina Schwanitz ( born December 24, 1985 in Dresden ) is a German shot putter. It was 2013 European Indoor Champion and Vice World Champion. She is sporting a soldier of the Bundeswehr sports promotion group in the Saxon town of Frankenberg.
Career
In 2004, she won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships. In 2005, she finished third at the German Championships. In the U23 European Championships in 2005 she won silver behind Petra Lammert. Thus, she qualified for the world championships in Helsinki, where she finished ninth. Your personal best was 18.84 meters at the end of 2005.
2006 and 2007 Christina Schwanitz was unable to repeat their performance of 2005 due to injury. In the indoor season in 2008, she returned and immediately became the third in the German Indoor Championships. At the World Indoor Championships in Valencia Schwanitz finished with 18.55 m in sixth place after they had achieved in qualifying 18.97 m. On 8 June 2008, it increased in Schönebeck their personal record to 19.31 meters, which she was still 37 inches from her best performance hall ( 19.68 m 29 February, 2008, Chemnitz ) away. At the Olympic Games in 2008 Schwanitz failed to qualify for the finals and finished there with 18.27 m at the end of eleventh place. 2011 Schwanitz was for the first time in the Hall German champion. A week later she won at the European Indoor Championships in Paris, Silver Medal, only five centimeters behind the winner, Anna Awdejewa. In the outdoor season, she won the German championship. At the World Championships in Daegu she was twelfth. 2012 Schwanitz was in the hall German Vice-Champion, but at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul, she already retired on the qualifier. At the European Championships in 2012 she was in Helsinki m with a width of 18.25 Fifth. At the Olympic Games in London shortly after she reached the tenth place.
On February 23, 2013 Schwanitz increased its best performance in the hall at 19.79 meters and was thus in Dortmund German indoor champion. A week later she won the gold medal with a distance of 19.25 m at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. At the World Championships in Moscow, she won on August 12, 2013, the personal best of 20.41 meters in the sixth experiment, the silver medal.
Christina Schwanitz launched from 2002 to 2009 for the then Sports Association Neckarsulm, Neckarsulm today Sportunion NSU. During this time she was four times awarded the honorary title of Sportswoman of the Year of the City Neckarsulm. In November 2009 she joined the club Ore LV 90 Thum. There she is coached by Sven Lang.
