Christine Lahti
Christine Lahti ( born April 4, 1950 in Birmingham, Michigan ) is an American actress and film director of Finnish descent.
Career
Before Lahti has established itself as an actress, she earned her living in New York as a waitress and as a mime in Central Park, but has now for many years a busy television actress, appearing regularly in particular produced for the U.S. television films and series, as well as sporadically in film productions. In Germany it was mainly for her role as single parent, feminist heart surgeon Dr. Kate Austin in the medical drama Chicago Hope - known terminus hope they embodied 1995-1999. She directed several episodes of Chicago Hope also directed and beyond in two feature films.
In the third season of Hawaii Five-0 Since 2012 she plays the role of the presumed dead mother of the series protagonist Steve McGarrett, the former CIA agent Doris McGarrett.
Private life
Christine Lahti is married since 1983 with the American film director and producer Thomas Schlamme, with whom she has three children: Wilson, Joseph and Emma.
Awards
Christine Lahti has already won all the major film and television awards in the United States. In 1996, she received together with Jana Sue Memel an Oscar for the short film Lieberman in Love, in which she acts as director and actress. As early as 1985 she was for her supporting role in the film Swing Shift - nominated for an Oscar in love at the time.
The television Emmy Award she received in 1998 for her role in Chicago Hope, moreover, she was nominated five more times for an Emmy.
In 1990, she won her first Golden Globe for her dramatic performance in the TV drama Burning fate. A second Golden Globe awarded Christine Lahti in 1998 for Chicago Hope. At the time of awarding the prize, she was first on the toilet and came late to the stage.
