Christine Scheiblich

Christine Scheiblich ( born December 31, 1954 in Wilsdruff ) is a retired German rower and Olympic champion in 1976 in the One.

Scheiblich comes from the village of the district boiler Wilsdruff near Dresden. At age 13, she started rowing. She trained under Dieter Schubert at SC Einheit Dresden. In 1972, she won at the Spartakiade in one and in the double sculls. In 1974 she won the first of four East German Championship titles in one, the others followed in 1975, 1977 and 1978. During these years she also won the world title in each one. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal for the first time was the woman rowing on the Olympic program. Scheiblich won the gold medal in the one with a narrow margin against the US-American Joan Lind. In 1974 and 1976 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit.

1978 married Christine Scheiblich multiple world champion Rodel Ulrich Hahn. Scheiblich had actually learned Schreibmaschinenmechanikerin, but was later physiotherapist. By 1990, she was employed with Einheit Dresden, after which they became self-employed.
