Christoph Brandner

Christoph Brandner ( born July 5, 1975 in Bruck an der Mur ) is a retired Austrian ice hockey player who played in the EC KAC in the Austrian Hockey League. Brandner was the first Austrian fielder, who played one game in the National Hockey League, and also the first Austrian, who scored a goal is scored in the NHL.

Career

Brandner's career began at Kapfenberg SV. From there we went to EC KAC, with whom he was Austrian Champion in 2000. He then moved to the German Hockey League to the Krefeld Penguins. Brandner was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 237th position, but still remained one season with the penguins. In the season 2002/ 03 he was with them German masters. He was also top scorer and DEL Player of the Year.

After this success, experience Brandner got out of the contract already signed out for the coming season with the Cologne Sharks and moved into the NHL with the Minnesota Wild.
