Christoph Dieckmann

Christoph Dieckmann ( born January 7, 1976 in Bonn, Germany ) is a former German beach volleyball player and active coach.

Career

Christoph Dieckmann began in 1989 with the Volleyball Hall. In 1994 he moved to beach volleyball. Until 2000, he played along with his twin brother Markus Dieckmann. The brothers were 1998 and 2000, German Vice Champion.

From 2002 to 2005 Christoph Dieckmann formed a duo with Andreas Scheuer plow, which reached the final of the German Cup for the first year. In the next two years they took the national title. In 2004, she also took third place at the World Tour tournament in Klagenfurt and ninth place at the European Championship in Timmendorfer beach. They celebrated their biggest success in fifth place of the Olympic Games in Athens. 2005, there was not enough nationally to defend their title. There were two World Tour victories in Shanghai and Klagenfurt, a fourth place at the European Championships in Moscow and 13th place at the World Championships in Berlin.

Then Dieckmann came along with Julius Brink. The duo, which was coached by Bernd Schlesinger, Künkler Andreas and Markus Dieckmann, won in the first year together, the German championship, was in The Hague European champion and won at the World Tour in Espinho and Vitória. 2007 defended Brink / Dieckmann their national title. They were ninth at the European Championships in Valencia and occupied the 17th place at the World Championships in Gstaad. She also won two CEV tournaments. At the World Tour 2008 they were successful in Barcelona twice and occupied the second rank. As best German team they qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing, where they were eliminated, however, as a group last after the first round.

Nevertheless, Dieckmann defended his title as German beach volleyball player of the year. In the German Cup failed with a 1-2 defeat against David Klemperer and Eric Koreng the title defense. At the end of the 2008 season announced Brink / Dieckmann, that they would go their separate ways in the future. Dieckmann's new play partners for the 2009 season should be Kay Matysik, which almost simultaneously ( also for personal reasons ) parted from Stefan Uhmann.

In June 2009, Christoph Dieckmann ended his career due to knee problems.

From autumn 2009 to October 2012, Dieckmann Greek national team coach was among others for the Greek Women's National Team Maria Tsiartsiani / Vasiliki Arvaniti. At the same time he edited the German duo Katrin Holt Wick / Ilka Semmler.

Since November 2012 Dieckmann is one of the two national coach of the Swiss beach volleyball players.

Private

Christoph Dieckmann is the son of the former mayor of Bonn Bärbel Dieckmann and former NRW Justice and Finance Jochen Dieckmann ( both SPD ).
