Christoph Langen

Christoph Langen ( born March 27, 1962 in Cologne) is one of the most successful German bobsledder and since 1 July 2010 national coach of the German Bobkaders. Langen is a qualified motor mechanic and started his sporting career as a track and field athlete at the 1864 TV Altötting. As a teenager he was a Bavarian champion in the high jump and decathlon athlete with good perspective.

Christoph Langen began his Bobkarriere 1985 as a brakeman at the bobsleigh pilot Anton Fischer and Christian Schebitz. With Fischer 1985, he became German champion in the two-man bob. He originally came from the triple jump. In 1991 he won with Wolfgang Hoppe his first world title that inspired him to steer a bobsled itself. Already in the following year he reached in Albertville with third place in the two- his first Olympic medal. As a result, he reached a more Olympic bronze medal (1998 in two ) and two Olympic medals ( four in 1998 and 2002 in two ). The Viererbobwettbewerb 2002, he had to stop and pause the 2002/2003 season due to injury ( tear of the plantar tendon ).

Christoph Langen's strength lay mainly in his ambition and his technical understanding. As a perfectionist, he succeeded again and again to bring you the best material at the start and even in old age to belong to the international elite.

In February 2004, Long played for Bob World Cup in Koenigssee his last race and won the silver medal in two-man and four-man there. In autumn 2004, his career received a setback when, during a routine examination, a narrowing of a coronary artery was found that had to be surgically corrected. He is in bobsleigh as a consultant and expert for television acting. On July 1, 2010 Lange 's successor Raimund Bethge, who was at that time in retirement, coach of the German bobsled team. Christoph Langen served as the Sergeant Major sports promotion group in Berchtesgaden until his promotion to national coach.

Since 2006 he takes part each year, organized by Stefan Raab Wok World Championship, where it has won the world title in team three times already.
