Christoph von Scheurl

Christoph Scheurl ( born November 11, 1481 Nuremberg, † June 14, 1542 ) was a German jurist, diplomat and humanist.

Life

Born as the son of immigrants from Wroclaw to Nuremberg businessman Christoph Scheurl ( 1457-1519 ) and his wife Helena ( née Tucher ), Scheurl initially received a thorough education in the home of his parents by private tutors. He was a private student of the " mathematician " Leonhard bird. Determined to a study of law, he moved in 1497, the University of Heidelberg and moved a year later to the University of Bologna. There humanism gained decisive influence on his development. Nevertheless, he continued his law studies were hampered by the fact that his father lost his fortune in 1501.
