Christophe Soglo

Christophe Soglo ( born June 28, 1909 in Abomey, † 1983) was from 1965 to 1967 President of Dahomey.

Life

Soglo came from the city of Abomey in his time French Dahomey ( Benin since 1975 ). He joined in 1931, the French Army and participated as a second lieutenant in the Second World War. After that, he was employed in the Indochina War and was decorated with high honors.

After the independence of Dahomey 1960 he was a colonel and chief of staff.

Between October 1963 and January 25, 1964 28, he was briefly after the resignation Coutoucou Hubert Maga as chairman of a three-man military junta leader. He handed the office after confirmation of a new constitution in a referendum on the former Prime Minister Sourou - Migan Apithy. After this was overthrown on 27 November 1965 a military coup, took over Soglo, now General, on December 22, 1965 again the head of state.

Another coup of junior officers ended his term of office on 19 December 1967.
