Christopher Aikman

Christopher Aikman ( born 1943 in Ottawa ) is a Canadian astrophysicist and astronomer.

He spent most of his working life ( 1968-1997 ) at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory ( DAO) in Saanich, British Columbia. His initial research dealt with the spectroscopic investigation of chemically striking suns, the surface composition markedly differs from that of our sun. From the year 1991 he directed until 1997 to adjust a program to track asteroids that were on Erdkurs. He used the constructed by John Stanley Plaskett 72 " telescope.

He represented Canada at the Spaceguard Foundation, a group that deals with the threat of the Earth by asteroid impacts. As a byproduct of this research, he was able to record the discovery of four asteroid.
