Christopher Amott

Christopher Amott ( born November 23, 1977 in Sweden ) is a Swedish guitarist who grew up in Halmstad and founder of the bands Arch Enemy and Armageddon. He is the younger brother of Michael Amott.

Biography

Christopher began at the age of 14 years to play the guitar, after he was inspired by the band Carcass his older brother Michael Amott. At 18 he enrolled in the Academy of Music. His style of aggressive, fast vibrato, fast riffs and melodies liquid has been heavily influenced by musicians such as John Sykes, Yngwie Malmsteen, Uli Jon Roth, John Norum and Michael Schenker.

During his music studies he was invited by his brother to go into the newly formed band Arch Enemy. Amott accepted the offer and received with the release of the album Black Earth in 1996, especially in Japan a lot of popularity. The following year he founded the Death metal band Armageddon as a side project, which immediately the first album Crossing the Rubicon brought out. At Armageddon, Christopher Amott tried to put more emphasis on the overall concept of the lyrics, as was the case with Arch Enemy.

Published with Amott Arch Enemy albums Stigmata (1998), Burning Bridges and Burning Japan Live 1999 ( both in 1999). He then took a break until 2000, in the Armageddon released their second album Embrace the Mystery. The style of Armageddon learned doing a drastic change in the direction of power metal, especially because now a melodic song was used. This can be seen as an attempt Amotts, outside the extreme metal a career to pursue.

Angela Gossow joined in 2001 as a new singer to Arch Enemy, whereupon the band with the album Wages of Sin was able to increase their popularity once again. After the world tour with Arch Enemy published Amott with Armageddon in 2002, the album Three. The path to Power Metal was continued here, with the emphasis on the self contributed by Amott singing and his guitar playing.

After the next release of Arch Enemy ( Anthems of Rebellion, 2003) and subsequent tour, Amott left the band in 2005 after recording their sophomore album Doomsday Machine had been completed. Amott later said that he had [ in Arch Enemy ] "is not musically creative felt " and therefore not in the band felt comfortable.

The following two years were spent Amott in Sweden, where he taught music and then attended the University. At present it is uncertain whether he will return to his Armageddon project again.

In 2007 he returned during the recordings for the new album Rise of the Tyrant Arch Enemy again to back and is now a permanent member of the band. On March 5, 2012 Amott left the band again.

Equipment

Christopher designed for Caparison his own signature guitar, the Dellinger -CA ( is currently no longer produced). Occasionally, he also uses a modified ESP Horizon, such as on the DVD Live Apocalypse.
