Christopher Birdwood, 2nd Baron Birdwood

Christopher Bromhead Birdwood, 2nd Baron Birdwood MVO (* May 22, 1899; † January 5, 1962 ) was a British peer, officer and author.

Life and career

Birdwood was born as the son of William Birdwood, 1st Baron Birdwood and Janetta Hope Gonville Bromhead. He was baptized in Twickenham, London. Birdwood visited the Clifton College and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in Berkshire.

On May 17, 1951, he inherited his father's title. Between 1953 and 1961 he participated several times in debates in the House of Lords. He died at the age of 62 years.

Family

He married on March 7, 1931 in Delhi Elizabeth Vere Drummond Ogilvie. In 1953 they divorced. They had two children, Sonia Gina Ogilvie Birdwood (1933-2006) and Mark Birdwood, who inherited his father's title. On February 22, 1954 married Birdwood Joan Pollack Graham.
