Christopher Challis

Christopher Challis ( born March 18, 1919 in London, † 31 May, 2012 Bristol) was a British cinematographer.

Life

Christopher Challis career in the film business he started in the mid 1940s as a camera operator for the directors Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, for which he later worked as a cameraman. During World War II, he had worked as a cameraman for the Royal Air Force and so had first gained experience. His first film as cinematographer was adventure in Brazil from 1947., He worked several times with director Guy Hamilton together, such as in the literary film Evil Under the Sun 1982.

In his career, Challis was nominated four times for the British Film Academy Award, 1967, he was awarded the prize in the Best British Cinematography ( Colour) category for his work on the film Arabesque.
