Christopher Gibbons

Christopher Gibbons ( baptized on August 22, 1615 in London, † October 20, 1676 ) was an English organist and composer.

Christopher Gibbons was the son of the English composer Orlando Gibbons, who was orphaned at the age of 11 years and by his uncle Edward Gibbon ( 1568-1650 ), the choirmaster at King's College in Cambridge was recorded. From 1638, he first worked at the Winchester Cathedral organist before he held from 1660 to succeed his father of this office in the Chapel Royal and Westminster Abbey.

From him some anthems are for use in churches, but also get more fantasies for strings.
