Christopher Martin-Jenkins

Christopher Dennis Alexander Martin- Jenkins MBE ( born January 20, 1945 in Oxford, † 1 January 2013 in Rudgwick, Horsham ) was a British journalist and cricket commentator. He was commonly known as CMJ.

Life

Martin- Jenkins first attended Marlborough College and then studied at Fitzwilliam College at the University of Cambridge. At the age of 28, he met in 1973 commentators team of Test Match Special, a sports broadcast of the BBC's radio broadcasting, in the cricket test matches and one- day internationals were transferred to the English team live. Previously, he had worked in the sports news editors at the BBC.

In the aftermath Martin- Jenkins was also a cricket correspondent for the BBC (1973-1980, 1985-1991) and the Daily Telegraph (1990-1999) and the Times ( 1999-2008 ). From 1981 to 1985 he was a commentator on BBC television, before he returned to broadcasting. Due to these activities, he was one of the most famous cricket journalists in the UK.

In Test Match Special Martin- Jenkins was one of the three regular reporters who each took turns every 20 minutes. He coined with the unique style of mission which continuously to up to five consecutive days fell by about eight hours out of the frame already, by its duration.

Martin- Jenkins was a declared supporter of Public Schools. His son played up to and including the 2010 season first-class cricket for Sussex.

Christopher Martin- Jenkins died on 1 January 2013 from cancer.
