Christopher Thompson (actor)

Christopher John William Thompson ( born August 13, 1966 in New York City ) is a French actor and screenwriter.

Life

As a grandson of director Gérard Oury and son of screenwriter Danièle Thompson Christopher Thompson came early with the movie business contacts. In 1989, he was first seen on screen in The French Revolution in the role of the writer and revolutionary Louis Antoine de Saint -Just. It was followed by a supporting role in Giuseppe Tornatore's film drama Allen 's fine (1990 ) on the side of Marcello Mastroianni and Michèle Morgan. For his performance in the film Les Marmottes, for his mother had written the screenplay, Thompson received a 1994 nomination for a César Award in the category Best Young Actor. For La Bûche (1999), the directorial debut of his mother, in which participated, among others, Sabine Azéma and Emmanuelle Béart, Christopher Thompson wrote together with his mother for the first time a script. Together they received for their work nominated for a César; most recently in 2007 for the comedy film A perfect place in which Christopher Thompson was used both as a writer and as an actor. Another collaboration between mother and son was published in 2009 film comedy affairs à la carte with Karin Viard and Dany Boon in the lead roles. In 2010, Thompson returned with Bus Palladium, a film about the first tour in a rock band, his directorial debut.

Since the early 1990s, Christopher Thompson is also active in television and worked there several times with the director Josée Dayan together. In Dayan's multi-part film adaptations The Count of Monte Cristo (1998) and Les Misérables - Prisoners of Fate (2002), he starred alongside Gerard Depardieu respectively.

With his wife, actress Géraldine Pailhas, Thompson has two daughters. His sister Caroline Thompson has worked as an actress in the film also.
