Christos G. Doumas

Christos Georgiou Doumas (Greek Χρήστος Γεωργίου Ντούμας, born 1933 in Patras ) is a Greek archaeologist.

Doumas worked since 1960 in the Greek heritage authority, in the Cyclades, in the Dodecanese and the northern islands of the Aegean. He was also curator of the Prehistoric Collection of the National Museum in Athens and worked as Director and Director of Antiquities for restoration in the Greek Ministry of Culture. From 1980 until his retirement in 2000 he was professor of prehistoric archeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

He's since the 1960s, the leading archaeologist for the prehistory of the Aegean islands. Since the death of his teacher, Spyridon Marinatos he manages since 1975 the excavations at Akrotiri on the island of Santorini.
