Black armpit Schwalbenschwänzchen ( Chromis atripectoralis )

The black armpit Schwalbenschwänzchen ( Chromis atripectoralis ) is a Damselfish (Pomacentridae ).

The fish live in the coral reefs of the tropical Indo-Pacific, on the islands of Oceania (not in Hawaii) and the Indian Ocean with the Seychelles, Thailand and the west coast of Australia.

They live in large flocks on bush -like stony corals, mostly of the genus Acropora, at depths of two to fifteen meters. They are constantly engaged in the hunting of zooplankton. In contrast to the Greens Schwalbenschwänzchen ( Chromis viridis) away Chromis atripectoralis further from his native coral colony and covers greater distances in open water. From Green Schwalbenschwänzchen distinguishes him next to his behavior a dark spot at the base of the pectoral fins and its size, the black armpit Schwalbenschwänzchen is eight to twelve inches long.

In the Meerwasseraquaristik the black armpit Schwalbenschwänzchen is not as commonly kept as Chromis viridis. Like him, he is not very easy to maintain because it is a time -eater and his digestive system is only two to three feedings is not adjusted daily to the normally. For improved posture an automatic feeder can daytime hourly give a small portion of food.
