Chromium (VI ) fluoride is a hypothetical inorganic chemical compound selected from the group of fluorides. Because it has been found that the infrared spectrum of matrix chromium ( V ) fluoride identical with the IR spectrum of the known literature of chromium (VI ) fluoride, whose existence is doubtful as a separate compound.
Production and representation
The first synthesis of the compound has been reported in 1963 by O. Glemser by synthesis from the elements at 400 ° C and 350 atm, whereby much chromium ( V ) fluoride is formed.
After several unsuccessful attempts reproduction EC Hope reported the synthesis by fluorination of chromium ( VI) oxide, the product showed a ratio of chromium to fluorine of 1 to 5.7.
Properties
Chromium ( VI ) fluoride is a lemon yellow, decomposable which decays already above -100 ° C rapidly in chromium ( V ) fluoride and fluorine.
