Chromium (II ) oxalate is a chemical compound of the chromium from the group of oxalates, which normally exists as a hydrate.
Production and representation
Chromium (II ) oxalate can be obtained by the reaction of chromium ( II) sulfate with sodium oxalate.
Properties
Chromium (II ) oxalate is a yellowish green powder that is sparingly soluble in water and ethanol, and quite stable in the dry state to atmospheric oxygen. By drying over phosphorus pentoxide, the salt is obtained almost free of water as a light green powder. A complete drainage succeeds only at 300 ° C in a high vacuum, but even a partial decomposition occurs.
