Chronon

Chronons (derived from the Greek chronos, time ) are phases in time.

Physics

In physics Chronons have so far only assumed time quanta. Similar to the quantum representing the smallest unit of energy Chronons intended to represent the smallest unit on the time level. The size of the unit is indicated generally at 2 × 10-23 seconds. These "time quantum " could be some discrepancies are eliminated in quantum physics. The idea comes from a model of Piero Caldirola ( 1914-1984 ).

In the current quantum physics the existence of Chronon is very controversial. On the one hand it makes sense to divide the time in quantum- like parts. A coherent quantum gravity would thus be possible.

On the other hand, the chronon is in the current expansion probably too large to reflect the actual smallest measure of time can: The much smaller interval of the Planck time ( 10-43 seconds) talks definitely against the current assumption of the previously defined interval, as the size is considerably below that of the Chronons.
