Chrysler Crossfire Coupe (2003-2007)
The Chrysler Crossfire is available as a coupe and as a roadster derived from it, which was produced by Karmann on behalf of Daimler Chrysler. The models are based on the Mercedes SLK 170, the coupe has, in contrast to this, however, a solid steel roof and the roadster soft top.
The Crossfire, which was manufactured from 2003 to 2007 by Karmann in Osnabrück, owes its name to the intersecting corrugations (cross -. Engl cross) in the sidelines. The start of production of the Crossfire coupe was February 3, 2003 and the Crossfire Roadster February 2, 2004 The Crossfire was available in two versions:. Equipped with a 3.2 - liter V6 naturally aspirated engine (160 kW/218 hp) and 310 Nm of torque, as well as Crossfire SRT6 with an equal supercharged engine and 246 kW ( 335 hp) and 420 Nm of torque. The latter is based on the engine of the SLK 32 AMG, but was cut back by 14 kW (19 hp).
In connection to this was a 6 -speed manual transmission or a 5- speed automatic transmission ( SRT6 only with automatic transmission) with adaptive shift control available (automatic handling as usual, or you turn on the Auto- stick function by briefly pressing the selector lever ).
Specifications
To stimulate sales, was introduced the special edition Blackline end of 2004. This new trim line was available for both the Roadster as well as for the coupe at a significantly lower price. The Black Line models, there was but only with manual transmission and they are less well equipped than the regular Crossfire. Compared to the standard models missing heated mirrors, stainless steel sill plates with Crossfire lettering, electrostatic air filter, front frames, door handles and side air vents in satin silver paint, floor mats, HomeLink garage door opener, cup holders in the center console folds out, Infinity sound system with 240 -watt amplifier and two subwoofers, map pockets and networks between the seats, windshield wiper nozzles heated, leather sport seats ( instead the Blackline cloth seats from the SLK R170 ), two-stage heated seats, fog lamps and stainless steel sports pedals with rubber studs.
Also in late 2004, the luxury version Silverline, combined exclusively with automatic hook. In this version, an interior package with carbon paneling was introduced, supplemented by a DVD navigation system and a CD changer with MP3 function.
On 17 December 2007, the last Crossfire was made , as the sales figures are still not met expectations for Karmann.
