Chrysler VF VIP

The Chrysler was a VIP car, which was built from 1969 to 1971 by Chrysler Australia. It was a luxury version with an extended wheelbase by Valiant.

VF series

The Chrysler VIP, VF series, was introduced in May 1969 and sold as " VIP by Chrysler ". He should fill the gap in Chrysler's Australian model range between the Valiant and the Dodge Phoenix and competed with other luxury cars such as the Ford Fairlane and Holden Brougham. Although the car was based on the VF Valiant, he had a 100 mm extended to 2845 mm wheelbase. Optical departed from the VIP from the Valiant by its dual headlights, taillights other, another rear window and a strong padded vinyl roof.

The VIP was available according to the customer with either a six -cylinder inline engine with 3687 cc or a V8 engine with 5211 cc capacity. In both variants, the three-level Chrysler TorqueFlite automatic transmission was installed. Power steering and front disc brakes were standard equipment for the V8 and were desired in the six-cylinder model available.

The previous series VE Valiant had as a top model, a Valiant VIP. The new VIP but was no longer under Valiant, was bigger, more expensive and more luxurious than the old model. The Valiant VIP had given it as a sedan and wagon, but the VF VIP there was only a 4- door sedan.

Series VG

The facelift series VG of VIP was introduced in 1970 as a successor to the VF series. A Chrysler Hemi six-cylinder in-line engine with 4015 cc capacity replaced the old six-cylinder and the Chrysler Fireball V8 engine was still installed on request. The VG VIP was the first built in Australia car with standard air conditioning.

Successor

The VG VIP was replaced by the CH Chrysler by Chrysler in November 1971.
