The Chrysolina sturmi is a beetle of the family of leaf beetles ( Chrysomelidae ).
Features
The beetles are 6 to 10 millimeters long. They have a blue- black to black-colored body having a purple tinge. The sensors are at the base, as well as the palps colored brown. The tarsi in the male are broader than in the female. They are reddish colored, what is the type differs from a number of more or less similar species of the genus Chrysolina.
Occurrence
The species occurs in many parts of Europe and missing on the Iberian Peninsula, some Mediterranean islands and Greece. They live in moist woodlands and along forest edges, but also occur on moist meadows, parks and more rarely on Ruderalgebieten and at the edge of fields. They can be found for example at Ground ivy ( Glechoma hederacea ). They overwinter as Imagines under stones, in straw and grass tufts.
