Chthonophyle

Chthonophyle (Greek Χθονοφύλη ) is a figure from Greek mythology.

In Apollonius of Rhodes Chthonophyle is a nymph who is mother of Dionysus Phlias, the eponymous hero of the city Phlius. According to Pausanias, she is the daughter of Sicyon and the Zeuxippe of Hermes and the mother of Polybus. Later she marries Phlias, the son of Dionysus and Araithyrea is in Pausanias, and by him the mother of Androdamas.
