Chuck Howley

Chuck Howley ( born June 28, 1936 in Wheeling, West Virginia) is a former American American football player. He played as a linebacker for the Chicago Bears and the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League ( NFL).

When he was coming Entry Draft by the Chicago Bears, from West Virginia University, already chosen in the first round of 1958 drafts. For the Bears, he played two seasons, until he wanted to end his career after a knee injury in 1959. After a West Virginia student game he decided to make a comeback and the Bears made ​​him eligible for draft picks to the Cowboys.

Howley graduated for the Cowboys in thirteen seasons 165 games, where he participated in two NFL championships and the Cowboys led to two Super Bowls. In Super Bowl V, he was elected to the Super Bowl MVP. It was the first time that a defensive player and the first and only time that a player of the losing team was awarded the prize. The next year, Howley could again compete for the Dallas in the Super Bowl and reacquire a convincing performance. In 1973, he ended his career for good.

Three years later he was admitted as the fourth player in the Ring of Honor at Texas Stadium.
