Chumburung is the Ghanaian language of Chumburung and is of 69,000 (2004 SIL) speakers (including 2,700 Yeji speakers ) are used.

Their distribution has Chumburung between the Volta Dam in the south and the River Daka in the northwest. Yeji is south of the Volta Dam spoken.

Alternative names are Nchumburung, Nchimburu, Nchummuru and Kyongborong. Dialects are Northern Chumburung ( Banda ), South Chumburung ( Lonto, Gurubi, Chinderi, Bejamse, Borae ) Yeji ( Yedji ).

Chumburung has similarities to 66% with Yeji to 79 % with Kplang to 78 % with crashes to 69 % with dwang (language), to 67% with Nawuri and Gikyode and 60% with Gonja.
