Chun District

Amphoe Chun ( Thai: อำเภอ จุน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Phayao. The Phayao province is located in the northeastern part of North Thailand.

Geography

Amphoe Chun is in the northern province of Phayao and borders the province of Chiang Rai.

Chun borders of east clockwise seen Amphoe Chiang Kham to the Pong and Doc Khamtai the province of Phayao and to the Amphoe Pa Daet and Thoeng in the province of Chiang Rai.

The main water sources of the district are the rivers and Chun Ing.

History

Amphoe Chun leads back to an old settlement called Wiang Lo, which was founded around the same time as Phayao.

Management

Amphoe Chun consists of 7 sub-districts ( tambon), which further into 88 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are five small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Huai Khao Kam ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ห้วย ข้าว ก่ำ ​​) consists of parts of the tambon Huai Khao Kam,
  • Wiang Lo ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล งิ ม ) consists of the whole tambon Lo,
  • Hong Hin ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล งิ ม ) consists of the whole tambon Hong Hin,
  • Chun ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล จุน ) consists of the whole tambon Chun,
  • Thung Ruang Thong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ทุ่ง รวง ทอง ) consists of the whole Tambon Thung Ruang Thong.

There are also two " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
