Chunchucmil

Chunchucmil is an archaeological site of the Maya in the Mexican state of Yucatán, on the western side of the Yucatán Peninsula in the municipalities of Maxcanú and Halacho.
Geography
The site is situated 27 kilometers from the Atlantic coast inland halfway to the Mayan ruins of Oxkintoc. It is named after the nearby settlement Chunchucmil.
History
Chunchucmil been inhabited since the Early Classic. There are indications that it was an important trading center for obsidian.
Archeology
The four Hauptsacbeob in the center of the site are between 15 and 25 meters wide and 130 to 300 meters long.
