Chuokoron-Shinsha

K. K. Chūōkōron Shinsha (Japanese株式会社 中央 公论 新社, Kabushiki - gaisha Chūōkōron Shinsha ) is a Japanese publishing company that was founded in 1886 under the name Chūōkōron -sha. Since 1999, the publishing house belongs to the Yomiuri Shimbun group, which is why the prefix shin (新, dt "new") was inserted in the publisher name. In Japan, the abbreviation Chuko (中 公) and the short name Yomiko (読 公) are also common.

History

The publishing house was founded in 1886 by the Hansei -kai (反省 会), a group of like -minded people of the temple Nishi Hongan -ji, in Kyoto. From the following year on dei magazine Hanseikai Zasshi (反省 会 雑 志), which was later renamed Chūōkōron (中央 公论) appeared. 1896 moved its headquarters to the publisher Tōkyō. 1914, the company was renamed Chūōkōron -sha and 1926 listed on the stock exchange.

A new form of the newspaper, the Sogo Zasshi (総 合 雑 志, " General-Anzeiger "), which in a critical issue on various topics (politics, economy, society, culture ) reported expanded the publisher. In 1916, the literary journal Fujinkōron (妇人 公论) joined joined the portfolio.
