Church in the Province of the West Indies
The Church in the Province of the West Indies is a member church of the Anglican Communion and extends over Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Jamaica, the Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago and has about 770,000 believers. The eight dioceses are Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, Nassau and the Bahamas, Northeastern Caribbean and Aruba, Trinidad and Tobago and the Windward Islands.
At the head of the Church as primate is the Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of the West Indies. Like some other ecclesiastical provinces announced this Ecclesiastical Province of the West Indies communion with the Episcopal Church of the USA on after it had 2003 professing homosexual Gene Robinson as bishop ordained.
The province comprises eight dioceses in 13 states and eight overseas territories.
