Location

The church is located in the Bezručova ulica ( German Raneyss Alley ) number 4 in the historic center of the Slovak capital.

Architecture

The nave church was built in the years 1907 and 1908 in the period from 1903 to 1904 resulting plans by Odon Lechner in the so-called secession style. It is dominated by curved typical for the Hungarian Art Nouveau forms. Lechner also designed the neighboring high school, as his chapel, the church served first, and the parish.

The floor plan of the building is oval. Is a cylindrical church tower on the front. An initially planned dome over the nave was not carried out. Instead came a barrel vault, which is crowned by a steep hipped roof. The roof is covered with glazed tiles and provided with decorations that also serve the outline of the building.

Main and side entrance framed by romanisierenden double columns, spinning over the arches that seem oriental. Other columns are also on the windows.

The facade was originally held in gentle pastel shades. Later the building was given its characteristic blue color. A line of blue wall tile and a waveband include the building. There is a round mosaic depicting the rose miracle above the entrance.

Interior decoration

The interior of the church is richly decorated with images. On the altar there is a picture of the Holy Elizabeth, who distributed gifts to the poor and beggars.

A model of the church is located in the Mini-Europe facility in Brussels and represents Slovakia there.
