Church of the Brethren

The Church of the Brethren ( German Church of the Brethren ) is a large Protestant church in the United States, on the Schwarzenau Brethren in the 18th century resulting in the German Schwarzenau (also called Tunker, English Dunkards ) back. The Schwarzenau Brethren joined the Anabaptist -Mennonite approaches to the ideas of radical Pietism. Until 1908 the Church of the Brethren still called German Baptist Brethren Church.

The hymn book used in the churches of the Church Hymnal: A Worship Book of 1992 originated in an ecumenical co-operation with North American Mennonites. Appeared in 2005 with Hymnal Supplement a supplementary volume of the Brethren.

The Church of the Brethren is not to be confused with the German Brethren movement, which is referred to in English as the Plymouth Brethren.
