Church of the Holy Cross, Nin

The Crkva svetoga Križa ( Croatian, "Holy Cross Church " ) in Nin, Croatia was built around the year 800. It is referred to as the " world's smallest cathedral ."

The central building consists of a towering rotunda, which is surrounded by four short naves in the form of a Greek cross. The windowless, rectangular chancel is laterally flanked by Rundapsiden; the input side opposite is distinguished by a belfry tower. The dimensions of the church walls, the doors and windows were adapted to the different lighting conditions within one year and within one day. She could thus also serve as a calendar and clock.

This testimony of early medieval Croatian architecture is one of the best preserved structures of this period.
