Church of Uganda

The Ecclesiastical Province of Uganda of the Anglican Communion (English Church of the Province of Uganda ) is a member church of the Anglican Communion in Uganda and has its origins in the missions of 1877. After she could dedicate her first local cleric in 1893, she experienced strong internal growth so that they in 1961 with Rwanda and Burundi became a separate ecclesiastical province. The latter two countries were, so that the ecclesiastical province of Uganda today is in May 1980 to an independent Anglican Church Province only from that country.

The ecclesiastical province comprises 33 dioceses.

At the head of the church is as Primate the Archbishop of Uganda.

The Ecclesiastical Province of Uganda allowed women ordinations. For the Reformed Episcopal Church but there is an agreement to the church community as well as for 2008, founded Anglican Church in North America.
