Chvaletice Power Station

F2

The power plant Chvaletice ( Czech Elektrárna Chvaletice, abbreviation ECH) is a coal- lignite from the mine to Most coal-fired power plant near the town of Chvaletice on the Elbe in East Bohemia, Czech Republic. The chimney of the plant is 305 m high and is considered the highest freestanding building in the Czech Republic.

History

The plant was built in 1973-1979 on the site of a manganese - roasting. The first of the four blocks was approached in late 1977, the last end of 1978.

Initially, coal was transported by rail to Lovosice and brought by ship to Chvaletice, 1996, the transport of the fuel was switched entirely to the railway.

In 1998, the flue gas desulphurisation plant was put into operation.

Since September 2013, the power plant of the company Severní Energetická belongs ( to August 2013, was Litvínovská Uhelná ). The work was acquired for 150 million euro of the previous owner CEZ. ČEZ has been accused by the European Commission to dominate the Czech energy market and therefore be invited at least one power plant of 800 MW for sale. The company originally planned to close the plant in 2015.

Plant

The power plant consists of four blocks with a capacity of 200 MW and is equipped with a 305 m high chimney. The cooling towers are 100 meters high and at the foot of a diameter of 60 m. The plant is equipped with two 400 kV high-voltage lines to the substation and connected Týnec Labem.

The power plant is equipped with a flue gas desulfurization system, which is desulfurized gases by lime washing and then ejects it through the cooling towers.

The delivered by rail coal is discharged through a spinning top tipper. There is a coal storage space for 850,000 tons.

Fuel transport

Because of the construction of the power plant of the upper reaches of the Elbe River was navigable. The water transport was chosen because the Czech Railways unrealistic demands for the case realized that she would have to take the transportation of coal from Northern Bohemia to the power plant. So they insisted that between the coal mines to be laid in must and the station recan additional tracks of 200 km in length and are developing several stations.

For the carbon transports specifically the same was made navigable from Kolin. Because the locks between Melnik and Chvaletice are just 85 meters long, the extra short push boats TR 500 were developed with the barge TC 1000. For the operation of the ships, the Czech Elbe-Oder founded shipping company ( ČSPLO ) a subsidiary for the transport of energy coal ( ZPEU ), which had 64 push boats and 80 coal barges. For the power plant had a daily 18 to 20 ships coal to be delivered, which is an annual transport of up to 4 million tons of coal.

Initially, 1979 was a cold winter, the same freeze, preventing shipping. The coal had an emergency basis with trains to the power plant Opatovice and brought from there by truck after Chvaletice. Even the zoom geeilte from the GDR icebreaker Anhalt was the situation does not change, because he stayed in the 60 cm thick ice at Čelákovic stuck and had to wait until 6 February thaw began.

As of 1992, the coal shipments began by train and 1996, the Marine was all set.
