The Cibin ( German Zibin, Transylvanian Saxon: Zebeng, Hungarian Szeben ) is a 82 km long right tributary of the Old (Romanian Olt ) in Transylvania. " Szeben " - - One of several theories according to which the German name of the country " Transylvania " by the Hungarian name of the Zibins derived.
Its headwaters is the Cindrel Mountains (Romanian Munţii cindrel ) in the Romanian Carpathians. He has two source rivers, the Raul Mare (Eng. about Big River ) and Raul Mic (Eng. about Little River ). After the union of these two sources of Cibin flows through the reservoir Gura Râului. In Talmesch (Romanian Talmaciu ) it flows into the Olt.
Tributaries are the Hârtibaciu (German Harbach ) and the Zoodt (Romanian Sadu ). The main town is traversed by Hermannstadt (Romanian: Sibiu).
