The Coastal Tiger Beetle ( Cicindela maritima ) is a beetle of the family of tiger beetles.

Description

The beetles are 10 to 13 millimeters long. They are similar to sand dune beetles and but have intense copper-colored elytra with yellow spikes binding. The elytra field in this type more backward bent than in the dune sand beetles.

Occurrence

They occur in littoral habitats ( on the banks of rivers, lakes and seas ) in Europe and Asia. In Germany, only salt- affected soils in the coast of the Baltic and North Sea. Your stocks are due to intensive use of suitable habitat structures extremely declined sharply by the individual leisure traffic. It is to be expected with the extinction of the very few remaining populations in Germany!
