Cicones

The Cicones (Greek Κίκονες Kikones ) was a mythological ancient people of Thrace. They should have lived on the coast in the area where later the tribes of Bistonen and Saier settled.

The Cicones be mentioned in Homer as allies of the Trojans in the Trojan War against the Achaeans. Their leader was Euphemos. Even Odysseus is visited on his wanderings on the way back from Troy and the kikonische capital Ismarus have (probably the later Maroneia ) looted.

" Cicones " was used in poets of antiquity as a synonym for " Thracians ".
