CientÃfico
Científicos is the name given to the followers of French positivism during the so-called porfiriato in Mexico.
It was actually a group of intellectuals who supported the development dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz, because they believed that they could enforce technical and economic progress through the pacification of the country and a stable political order. Supreme directive of this group was the scientific research and a focus on natural laws. The positivists justify economic liberalism, but rejected the political liberalism completely. The French positivism of Auguste Comte was brought by Gabino Barreda to Mexico.
