Ciergnon Castle

The Royal Palace of Ciergnon ( in Dutch: Koninklijk kasteel van Ciergnon, in French: Château Royal de Ciergnon ) is the summer residence of the Belgian royal family and King Albert II It is located in Ciergnon in the community Houyet in the province of Namur. History

The castle and the connected lands were acquired in 1840 by King Leopold I, first establishing a hunting lodge. Under King Leopold II ( King of the Belgians from 1865 to 1909 ) was then built the still existing castle designed by the architect Alphonse Balat; since that time, it serves as the summer residence of the King of the Belgians and has already been the site of important events of the Belgian monarchy and politics:
