Ciminna

Ciminna is a city in the province of Palermo in the Italian region Sicily, with 3829 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Ciminna is located 45 km southeast of Palermo. The inhabitants work mainly in agriculture and crafts.

The neighboring municipalities are Baucina, Caccamo, Campo Felice di Fitalia, Mezzojuso, Ventimiglia di Sicilia, Vicari and Villafrati.

History

In the area of the village remains have been found of Roman and Punic settlements. The Normans built a castle here. The place Ciminna developed around the fort.
