Cincar

Overlooking the Cincar

The Cincar (2006 m) is a mountain in south-western part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the highest elevation in the west of the country. It is located in the north- north-east of Livno between poljes of Kupres and Glamoč. The mountain range also includes the summit Malovan (1826 m), Osječenica (1798 m), Osin glavica (1720 m) and Voloder (1640 m).

Geology

The Cincar consists mainly of limestone and dolomite of the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. The high slopes in the north show traces of ancient glaciation.

Climate

The climate on Cincar is rough. The Bora does not inspire tree growth on the southwest flanks. The mountain is from mid-October to mid-May of snow.

Tourism

The mountain, which offers a remarkable view, may be ascended from Livno.
