Cinco de Mayo

El Cinco de Mayo (Spanish May 5) and " The Day of the Battle of Puebla " is a Mexican holiday. In him the victory is commemorated by the Mexican army led by General Ignacio Zaragoza won over the numerically superior forces of a French expeditionary army at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

The holiday is not legally and practically committed only in Puebla itself with festivities. In addition, he gained over the past decades in the Mexican-born population of the United States of America increasing importance, roughly comparable to the St. Patrick 's Day the Irish. In Mexico itself, this holiday is only of minor importance.
