North Korean films are films that have been produced in North Korea.

As the entire spectrum of the arts in North Korea, the film also deals exclusively with propaganda themes. So it's mainly in North Korean films to the glorification of Kim Il- sung and Kim Jong- il, the structure of the Juche socialism and the propagation of Antijapanismus and anti-Americanism.

One of the few films that have gained even beyond the borders of the country beyond a certain level of recognition, is the flower girl from 1972, which was awarded at the 18th International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary with a special price.

Since 1987 is, now every two years, the International Film Festival of Pyongyang (formerly International Pyongyang Film Festival of Non-Aligned and other developing countries ) instead.

North Korea has today but less personal spiritual contributions of the state-owned company SEK Animation Studio internationally in appearance than as Zuarbeiter to Hollywood cartoons.
