Cineteca di Bologna

The Cineteca di Bologna is one of the most important European film archives based in Bologna. It was founded in the 1960s and is an active member of the Federation Internationale des Archives du Film ( FIAF ) and a founding member of the Association of Cinémathèques Européennes (ACE ) since 1989. In addition, the Cineteca is an independent municipal institution since 1995.

The Cineteca is an internationally acclaimed center for the preservation and restoration of films. She gained fame through the Chaplin Project. The Cineteca was given the task of restoring the entire cinematic oeuvre of Charles Chaplin.

The film archive manages more than 18,000 movies in 16 -mm and 35 - mm format. The library has 20,000 volumes on film and cinema, in 2500 and 2000 graphics picture books and comic books. Since 2003, this is the home of the estate of Pier Paolo Pasolini.
