Cinnamon Girl

Cinnamon Girl (Eng. " Zimtmädchen " ) is a rock song by Neil Young from the album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere from the year 1969. It is one of his most famous pieces and was often gecovert. The coupled as a single song reached number 55 in 1970 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

History

Young Cinnamon Girl wrote together with two other songs, Cowgirl in the Sand and Down by the River, when he was ill at home in Topanga with the flu.

The song is about a musician who is waiting for his girl between the performances.

Cover versions

A first cover version comes from The Gentry. It reached number 52 on the Billboard 200 in 1971 was followed by a recording of John Entwistle for his first solo album, Smash Your Head Against the Wall. 1996 Type O Negative played the song on October Rust. Also on the live DVD Symphony for the Devil, which was recorded at the Bizarre Festival in 1999, the piece is played. The Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead played after the title.
