Cinnamon roll

A cinnamon roll ( also called sugar in Austria snail) is a sweet pastry that is common in Scandinavia and Central Europe but also in North America (as Cinnamon roll or brioche à la cannelle ). It consists of a dough, which is spread with butter and topped with a cinnamon -sugar mixture. Then the dough sheet is rolled up. The roll is cut into finger- wide strips. The Teigschnecken be baked on a baking sheet or in a roasting. Most cinnamon rolls are provided after baking with a sugar icing.

In North America, the cinnamon rolls are smaller and are sold primarily through franchised chains ( Canada: Cinnzeo, USA: Cinnabon ).

The Swedish form of cinnamon roll called kanelbulle and is one of the most popular pastries in the country. Since 1999, October 4th is celebrated in Sweden as the "Day of the cinnamon bun " ( Kanelbullens dag ).
