The Ciron is a river in France, which runs in the region of Aquitaine. It rises in the municipality of Lubbon, drained and flows generally northwest direction after 97 kilometers in the district of Barsac as a left tributary of the Garonne. On his way he crosses the departments of Landes, Lot- et- Garonne and Gironde.

Viniculture

The river runs through the vineyards of Barsac and Sauternes. Its cold spring water forms at the mouth into the warmer waters of the Garonne in the autumn mist, creating the best conditions for noble rot fungus Botrytis cinerea, which is necessary for the increase in the sugar content of the grapes in the production of sweet wines.
