The adhesive thistle ( Cirsium erisithales ), also known as Sticky thistle, is a plant of the genus thistles ( Cirsium ) in the sunflower family ( Asteraceae).

Description

The adhesive thistle is a herbaceous plant, rarely reaches the heights of growth between 50 and 150 centimeters and two meters. The sticky - fluffy stem is branched and has the top third usually no leaves. The leaves are usually pinnate to pinnatisect, the upper with geöhrtem reason amplexicaul.

On the more or less long, leafless " branches " are the nodding bloom conditions individually. The flower heads are not enveloped by bracts. The bracts are entire margin and densely glandular - sticky. The tubular flowers are lemon yellow.

The flowering period extends from July to September.

Occurrence

The adhesive thistle is quite common in the Limestone Alps, in the Central Alps rather rare. It prefers forests and forest edges and thrives on calcareous soils.
